Setting up E-mail in Netscape 4.6

    Locate the Preferences dialog box to set up your e-mail by following these steps:
  1. Open Netscape and select Edit and then choose Preferences from the drop down box.
  2. In the left hand column of the Preferences dialog box, select Mail (double click on the word or click once on the plus sign).
  3. In the drop down list that appears, select Identity and fill in the following:
    Your Name box, type your name or initials.
    E-mail Address box, type your complete address-
    for example- zxzt@greene.k12.il.us
  4. Return to the left hand column of the Preferences dialog box and select Mail Servers
  5. Under Incoming Mail Servers select edit
    a- Under Server Name type in everything after the @ (greene.k12.il.us)
    b- Under User Name insert everything that comes before the @ in your email address (that would be "zxzt" in our example)
    c- choose OK.
  6. Next to Outgoing SMTP, Server Name, type everything that comes after the @ in your address (greene.k12.il.us)
  7. Under Outgoing Mail, Server User name, type everything that comes after the @ in your address (that would be "zxzt" in our example)
  8. Depending on your preferences, you may choose to select the option for the computer to save your password. However, once you do that, your e-mail is open to anyone once you log onto your computer.
  9. Select OK to close the Mail Server Properties Box
  10. Select OK to close the Preferences dialog box

To Open the Netscape Mail Box, use the drop down menu to select Messenger, click on the mail icon (Inbox) on the lower right corner of Netscape, or select "Control+2" by pushing both keys at once.

You may now go to your Netscape Mail Box and choose Get Mail. Type in your password when prompted to do so.
