January 15, 2012 - Mark Brown as General Grant

Mr. Brown has been
portraying General Grant since 1980. He
has been to several states in the Union
educating a variety of groups about the "life and times" of the
General. Also, in his portrayal, he
dispels some of the myths about the General and adds some interesting
insight
as to Grant as a soldier, father and husband.
Mr. Brown is a retired
Funeral Director having graduated
from Southern Illinois University. He
has been a history-buff from childhood and continues to learn more to
add to
his programs.
Mr. Brown has good
knowledge of military history having
served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He is
currently involved with the Marine Corps League and is a past
Commandant.
Mark is currently the
President of the North Greene Chamber
of Commerce and his wife, Patricia, is a
teacher at North Greene High School.
Together they have six children and
eight grandchildren. Mark and Patricia
reside in rural Roodhouse
with their horses and several beloved dogs and cats!
March 18, 2012 – Steam Railroad Days
John Neece had 40 years
with the Alton, GM&O, and ICG
railroads. Retired in 1982. One of the last surviving enginemen from the
steam engine days in the area. He will
bring some artifacts from long ago for viewing.

July 15, 2012 – Greene County Schools
Jerry Wolfley will
discuss the old schools in Greene County
including many one room rural schools.
Pictures of the old school houses will
be available for viewing.
September 7-9, 2012
Annual Greene County
Days.
The museum will be open during Greene
County Days and numerous quilts
will be displayed in the building.
November 18, 2012 – Victorian Mourning
Customs-Jewelry
and Hair Momentos
Mary Jo Swengrosh will
be presenting a program on
