Greene County Pioneer
Certificate
The Greene County
Historical and Genealogical Society is
offering a Greene County Pioneer Certificate to honor the memory of the
earliest residents of the county. Anyone
may apply and applicants need not be residents of Greene County. Applicants must provide proof of descent from
a Greene
County
ancestor whose who was residing
within the county by 1830. A copy of the
1830 Federal Census of Greene County is available at the Society office
to
serve as a reference for early pioneers or other proof of residence by
1830 can
be submitted.
Criteria for the
certificate include:
(1) Membership
in the Greene County Historical Society or include membership dues with
certificate application.
(2) Completion
of the Pioneer Certificate Program Application.
(3) Copies
of documented proof of direct descent for each generation to an
1830
resident.
(See 1830 Greene County Census for a list of county
residents as of that date.)
(4) $20.00
certificate fee
For
each qualifying ancestor, a beautifully
designed 8 ½ by 11 inch certificate suitable for framing,
numbered and signed
will be issued. We hope this
certification will be a source of pride for your family.

to obtain a copy of the application packet by either e-mail or regular
mail. All applications with proof of
direct descent
documentation will be filed in the archives of the Society to help
preserve the
history of your ancestor and will be make available for public research.
